Education marketing tips

In education, as in every other commercial and public body, digital marketing and communication is becoming the dominant means of communication.

To assist educational establishments in harnessing the digital revolution we have put together a Digital Knowledge Centre – a series of free online reference articles, podcasts and forums.

Our articles, blogs and forums are designed for intelligent conversation and feedback and we use this as a source of inspiration to research and write future articles for you. The more people that download relevant articles the more we will research into it and provide you with feedback or write further articles about your chosen topics.

How we will use your information

We are part of the Direct Marketing Association and adhere to the Data Protection Act. We will not pass your details on to any other companies. As a user gaining free articles and advice we do encourage you to download them regularly and join in on forums to put your views across. You will have the ability to remove yourself from our lists at any time.

We endeavour to only send you information which is directly associated to your subscription, however, we may from time to time send you articles or details on some of our other products and services which may benefit you.

If you are studying or are looking for reference material, we are happy to hear from you, but can't guarantee that we can cater for all requests.

Below are some examples of the kind of topics covered and some top tips for online marketing that may help you:
  1. Online Marketing:
Top Tip: The key to marketing online is to consider, budget and use multiple output channels and methods in your marketing mix, linking as many of these together as possible.
  2. Link Building:
Top Tip: Find trusted sites which link to your competitors and contact them to see if they would add your link to the same space – this would also help your co citation!
  3. Directory Submissions:
Top Tip: Before you submit your site to any directory do a little research to see if they still accept links, on their page rank score and whether they actually show up in search engine results pages (SERPs) - weeding out the bad ones will save a lot of time and energy.
  4. SEO Keywords:
Top Tip: To find out what key phrases you can use to generate long tail volume just monitor the search terms people use on your website's own search facility - then target the most commonly used keywords.
  5. Blogging:
Top Tip: Always conduct your blogging activities in an open and transparent manner - do not hide behind façade or misrepresent yourself. If you've not got something worth saying then don't say anything at all.
  6. Video Marketing:
Top Tip: Always display your link on video content where possible - if your video is re-posted by someone else then this will tie the video back to you and generate further traffic.
  7. Email Marketing:
Top Tip: Fundamentally, email marketing should be tailored and relevant to your customers and not about you. If you send out emails which aid, inspire or engage your customer then they are much more likely to be receptive to what you have to say.
  8. Pay per Click Advertising:
Top Tip: Always drive your pay per click adverts to a specifically optimised page on your website which delivers high impact related content. Don't just rely on your homepage being able to deliver for all your keywords.
